July 27, 1976 was a great day for John Lennon. Because of his involvement in the early 70’s in left wing causes POTUS at that time- the criminal named Richard Milhous Nixon wanted him deported [too bad Nixon wasn’t deported maybe they could have taken the bum up to the moon and left him there.} In August 1974 facing sure impeachment- The Tricky One resigned. Lennon was living in New York City with his wife Yoko Ono and loved living in NYC- and wanted to stay there. Below is a short article on the case- the United States vs John Lennon. {There is also out there a fine 2006 documentary “The U.S. Vs John Lennon} The lawsuit was thrown out and Lennon would live the rest of his life in NYC.
When this all happened I was yet a music fanatic- and I would a few months later be introduced to the magic of The Beatles by my friend Andy. I remember watching the news at my grandparents that night and hearing the story of John Lennon receiving his green card. I thought it curious at the time as to why it would have even been in question.
The ruling judge Irving Kaufman said “Lennon’s four-year battle to remain in our country is testimony to his faith in this American dream.

The Lennon’s lawyer, Leon Wildes wrote a great book about the case…John Lennon vs. The USA.
I wonder if his luck with obtaining the visa would have been possible today?
This is true.
