Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period.
TODAY- listened to 5 different albums- total for 109 days- 700 different albums. On pace for 2344 different albums.

ELVIS COSTELLO: MY AIM IS TRUE: 1977: DISC 2: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Outtakes-live material, b-sides etc from the My Aim Is True period.
WILSON PICKETT: A MAN & A HALF: THE BEST OF WILSON PICKETT: DISC 1: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The wicked Pickett. A big hit maker on the R&B charts especially in the 1960’s- and early 70’s- had a number of cross over hits- his most famous songs being In The Midnight Hour, Mustang Sally, Land of 1000 Dances. This two disc is an excellent career spanner. There is a new book out about Pickett- who led a very troubled life- that I am looking forward to reading.
WILSON PICKETT: A MAN& A HALF: THE BEST OF WILSON PICKETT: DISC 2

R.E.M: LIFE’S RICH PAGEANT: 1986: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: R.E.M’s fourth full length album-they were still going strong at this point. They were releasing an outstanding album every year. This album’s production is more pop friendly than their earlier ones. Fall On Me and Superman were released as singles but this was before R.E.M. had much success with singles. An underrated album in their catalog.

THE RIGHTEOUS ¬†BROTHERS:THE ANTHOLOGY 1962-74: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: One of the top duos in rock and roll history- I would give this anthology 5 stars if the only song it had was “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’-their #1 hit from 1964. I go back and forth on what the greatest song in rock and roll history is-but “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’- has to be in the discussion [the song was produced by the great Phil Spector}

  1. Two interesting listens for sure. I like “My Aim Is True”. It’s a good album but I always felt he was better with the Attractions in the following years. “Life’s Rich Pageant” is a classic IMO.
