The baseball All-Star Game is tonight in Miami. Nolan Ryan made eight All-Star teams- I was kind of surprised the number wasn’t more. I doubt I will watch the All-Star Game- but at least it no longer determines who has home field advantage in the World Series.

The t-shirt from above I bought over 20 years ago on one of my ballpark- across America ventures. At the time The Ballpark at Arlington [ I am sure it has a different name now} was brand new. Now they are talking about getting a new ballpark….. It was in July and I can’t remember a warmer day. My brother and I hung out underneath the stands until game time because our seats were out in the sun. We struck up a conversation with a native. I noticed most of the folks there didn’t seem to be suffering like my brother and I were with the heat. I mentioned it to him and he said that it had been over 100 degrees every day for weeks. We talked for a while and discussed not only baseball but politics. This must have been 1994 because the topic of the race in Texas for governor came up and he said with a smile on his face that after November we’d never hear of George Dubya Bush again- that Anne Richards would handle him easily and that would be that. I have wondered since if this fellow is now a political pundits on television? Maybe he was the fellow who last fall said that Hillary Rodham Clinton was preparing for a landslide?
