On this day June 24, 1965 John Lennon’s second book “A Spaniard In The Works” was published. His first book “In His Own Write” had been a success so he got a second book. “A Spaniard In The Works” is another slim volume with 18 of Lennon short stories with some of his drawings. John had always enjoyed wordplay and grew up a big fan of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice In Wonderland.” Even as a child he would write little whimsical stories to entertain himself and others.
The sequel to “In His Own Write” was a best seller but didn’t sell as well as the first book did but it didn’t seem to bother John at all. He just said that sequel’s usually don’t do as well.
