In a game that is still talked about today- June 22, 1986 the World Cup quarter-finals- Argentina vs England- Maradona scored two goals- one being the infamous “Hand of God” goal where he got away with using his hand to score the goal and the other goal- the ‘goal of the century” which is one of the greatest individual goals you will ever see. Argentina went on to win the 1986 World Cup.

    • There are sporting events that can leave a mark on you. I imagine this would have been tough to take. How in the world did they miss that call on the Hand of God goal?

    • There was so much media hype around the game. England had a very good team, and it was the first time the team had met Argentina in a major competition since the Falklands War so the level of bitterness after the game was huge.

    • That was years before I started to follow the sport- I am a late comer- started following it in 2003– but I’ve always loved reading up on the history of the sports I am into–and this had to be a bitter defeat.
