Goal- listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period.

TODAY-LISTENED TO 8 DIFFERENT ALBUMS- TOTAL FOR 39 DAYS-248. ON PACE FOR 2321.

  • GORDON LIGHTFOOT: COMPLETE GREATEST HITS: 2002: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. 20 of Gordon’s greatest songs. There is a box set of 4 discs out there for those wanting more. I’ve always thought Lightfoot was underappreciated.
  • ENYA: PAINT THE SKY WITH STARS: 1997: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. New age music. I find this music and her voice relaxing. Great background type stuff. After listening to the 16 songs I can’t quote a line from any song or anything but I like listening to this album and the other one I have from her collection “A Day Without Rain.” once or twice a year.
  • ELVIS COSTELLO: SPIKE: 1989. 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. First album since 1986 from EC. Two songs on this album from his working with Beatle Paul. “Veronica” was a Top 40 hit in the U.S. I saw him twice that summer on his tour.  The album has received mixed reviews but I quite liked it.
  • BOB DYLAN: BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME: 1965: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. First of three blistering albums from Mr. Zimmerman- “Mr. Tambourine Man” one of those songs I wish I had written. ” Subterranean Homesick Blues” and “Maggie’s Farm” also stone cold classics. Dylan has clearly broke from his folk-protest past now.
  • CROWDED HOUSE: TEMPLE OF LOW MEN: 1988: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. More great songs from the pen of Neil Finn.
  • ANGEL OLSEN: MY WOMAN: 2016: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. First listen- very good I guess she falls under Americana. I like her fast songs more than her slow ones- the last couple at the end of the album drag. Will have to listen to it more and get a real feel for it but I am liking it.
  • STEVE EARLE: JERUSALEM: 2003: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. “Jerusalem” the song is one of Steve’s best songs. His first album after 9.11- and the start of the war. Made a lot of waves with his song about John Walker- the American Talibum.
  • TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS: TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS: 1976: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Pretty solid debut with “American Girl” still one of his greatest songs.
