One of my favorite movies of all times is- “Taxi Driver” with Robert De Niro one of my favorite actors and my all time favorite movie director- Martin Scorsese. It has to be on My Mount Rushmore of movies. No idea how many times I’ve watched this one. A very violent and disturbing movie. De Niro is fantastic as Travis Bickle the alienated, depressed Taxi Driver who can be viewed in the end as a hero?
The movie’s most quoted line is Travis looking into the mirror and saying “You talkin’ to me?”… In 2009 in his book Clarence Clemons wrote that De Niro took that line from Bruce Springsteen. De Niro saw Springsteen in concert and with the fans yelling “Bruce” at Springsteen- Springsteen would shout “You talkin’ to me.”- De Niro added that into the movie on his own.
I got this t-shirt in Hollywood while on a mini- vacation.
My Mount Rushmore of Favorite Movies: “Citizen Kane”,’ Taxi Driver”, “It’s A Wonderful Life” and ” The Lord of the Rings” trilogy.
“Taxi Driver is a hell, from the opening shot of a cab emerging from stygian clouds of steam to the climactic killing scene in which the camera finally looks straight down. Scorsese wanted to look away from Travis’s rejection; we almost want to look away from his life. But he’s there, all right, and he’s suffering.” -Roger Ebert
