The most acclaimed album in rock history is The Beatles-Sgt.Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. In most of the critics polls over the years it seems to come out at #1. They will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original release of Sgt. Pepper on June 1st. They are re-releasing “Sgt. Pepper” in several new editions and I no doubt will go in for the deluxe edition, I am a Beatles fanatic, it’s what I do.
Sgt. Pepper had one of the most iconic album covers ever and it was the first rock album to have the lyrics included. This album was the ‘go to’ album of the “Summer of 1967.” I have always loved the album of course but as I’ve written before I don’t think it is The Beatles finest work, “Revolver” and “Rubber Soul” to my ears are The Beatles at their peak. Those two album have in my opinion aged better, they sound fresh, whereas “Sgt.Pepper” sounds dated.
Recently my sister-in-law asked me what The Beatles best song was- and I said “A Day In The Life” which ends “Sgt.Pepper.” While I do think that is probably their best song it isn’t necessarily my favorite Beatles song, I told her “Strawberry Fields Forever” is my favorite, and “In My Life” would be right up there too.
I can’t recall where I bought this t-shirt with “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’s” album cover. One complaint I have about the shirt is- the decal is heavy. I only wear this t-shirt in cooler weather. I will wear it on June 1st so I am hoping we have a cool day.
