2017 NFL Mock Draft pick 31 – Atlanta Falcons – Forrest Lamp – G – Western Kentucky

Atlanta was the NFC representative for the Super Bowl and for 3 quarters looked to be NFL Champions, but an unprecedented collapse and comeback by the Patriots left a bitter taste this off season for the Falcons. If they do not return to the playoffs everyone will say that the Super Bowl loss was too much to overcome or other tripe. What people fail to realize is that it is exceedingly difficult to stay on top for any length of time. Atlanta could do almost anything with this pick depending on who falls where. Upgrading the OLine is not the sexy choice, but if you look at the results in Dallas and Oakland, having a good Oline makes life a lot easier. Forrest Lamp is a solid pick here.

Lamp at 6’4″ 309lbs has played guard and tackle at Western Kentucky. If he could learn to snap the ball consistently, and of course barring injury, he could have a long career and be able to excel at any position along the line. This kind of versatility should only increase his value.

Falcons select Forrest Lamp, Guard, Western Kentucky.
