- THE BEATLES: SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND: 1967. 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. This June will be the 50th anniversary of The Beatles landmark- Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. There will be a re-release with all kinds of extras. Will I get it? Sure. But I do think Sgt. Pepper is a tad overrated. In every poll critics always list it was the greatest album of all times. Maybe it is the most important and influential but I don’t think it is even one of The Beatles four best albums- I go with “Revolver”, “Rubber Soul”, “Abbey Road” and “The White Album” over Sgt. Pepper. I don’t think the album has aged well. When I hear it it reads- 1967 psychedelia to me where as “Revolver” and “Rubber Soul” sound as fresh as the day they were released.
- BRETT DENNEN; THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION. 2013. 3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. I really liked a couple of the songs of his I heard on XM radio- “Sydney’ and “Comeback Kid” and downloaded this best of- overall pretty good songs.
- LESTER YOUNG: KEN BURNS JAZZ: 2000. 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Love the sounds of Lester Young.
