The goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period.

Today. 5 ALBUMS LISTENED TO. TOTAL- 8 DAYS- 54 ALBUMS LISTENED TO.

  • BIG STAR: RADIO CITY.  1974. 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Excellent album but you can feel the wheels coming off. Chris Bell had left the group. The deserved success wasn’t happening.
  • PAUL MCCARTNEY AND WINGS: RED ROSE SPEEDWAY: 1973.2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. It took Beatle Paul a few years to get back on track. His first few albums solo and with his new group Wings- very uneven. This was released in the spring of 1973, the next album was released before the end of the year-“Band On The Run.” Can you imagine a top flight artist releasing two albums within a year today?
  • THE BEATLES: A HARD DAY’S NIGHT: 1964. 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. My choice for the overlooked great Beatles album. When they talk about the best Beatles albums- “Revolver”, “Rubber Soul”, “Abbey Road”, Sgt. Pepper” and “The Beatles {White album} always get mentioned but I’d throw “A Hard Day’s Night” into the mix too. A fun album, this always puts me in a good mood.
  • BOSTON: BOSTON: 1976. 3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. If I were going to pick an album that told the story of the late 70’s and rock radio I’d pick this. I was in high school at that time and everyone seemed to love Boston. I wasn’t much of a fan but I got the album on one of those 13 for a penny Columbia House deals. “More Than A Feeling” was a pretty good tune but the rest of the album doesn’t move me. Never was a fan of the Boston/ Kansas/ Journey/Foreigner type groups that were popular at the time. Not to say those groups weren’t capable of producing a good song or two.
  • JOE JACKSON: JUMPIN’ JIVE: 1981: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS. Joe Jackson covering a bunch of 40’s jump blues songs. Not an essential album but great fun.

    • I kind of related the Joe Jackson doing that album to Elvis Costello and his “Almost Blue” around the same time.
