Mobster Henry Hill- of “Goodfellas” Fame- Born This Day 1943

Mobster Henry Hlll was born on this day in 1943. He died last year. Henry Hill was a New York City mobster from 1955 until 1980. He was a member of te Lucchese crime family. He testified against Lucchese captain Paul Vario and James Burke, both of whom were convicted on multiple charges. Henry Hill became famous when his life story was written in a crime book by Nicholas Pileggi called “Wiseguy: Life In A Mafia Family.” They made it into a movie but they changed the title because there was a popular television show at the time called “Wiseguy.” The title for the movie was “Goodfellas” it came out in 1990. I was directed by my favourite movie director of all time Marty Scorsese. Ray Liotta played Henry Hill. A great movie. I have no idea how many times I’ve seen it. The book is well worth reading too. I remember hearing Henry Hill interviewed once on the Doug Hoerth Radio Show in Pittsburgh around that time. Interesting interview.
