Legendary Record Producer Phil Ramone Dead At 79

Legendary record producer Phil Ramone has died of a brain aneurysm at the age of 79. Phil Ramone during his career was nominated for 33 Grammy Awards, winning 14. He had worked in his career with a wide range of artists but was most famous for producing Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Ray Charles. He produced a Who’s Who of artists from Paul McCartney to Elton John to Bob Dylan, Sinead O’Connor, The Band, Madonna the list goes on and on. He is even credited with recording Marilyn Monroe’s infamous “Happy Birthday To You’ to President  John Kennedy. Ramone was born in South Africa but grew up in Brooklyn. He began playing violin at three and performed for Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 1o. When he was 20 he opened his first recording studio. A life in music. Phil Ramone is no relation to any of The Ramones!! My first encounters with the works of Phil Ramone were the Paul Simon albums of the 1970’s.  Phil Ramone produced more hits than Rod Carew.
