Brian Jones- Founding Member Of The Rolling Stones -Born This Day 1942

Brian Jones was one of the founding members of The Rolling Stones. He was their leader early on but was soon over shadowed by Mick and Keith. Brian Jones got deeper and deeper into drugs and in 1969 was kicked out of the group and replaced by Mick Taylor. He was found dead by drowning in a swimming pool less than a month later. Brian Jones was a very talented musician who could play a number of instruments. I think fellow Rolling Stone Bill Wyman sums Brian Jones perfectly.

“He formed the band. He chose the members. He named the band. He chose the music we played. He got us gigs..Very influential, very important, and then slowly lost it- highly intelligent- and just kind of wasted it and blew it all away.”
