On this day in 1984 the first Apple Macintosh computer went on sale. Steve Jobs introduced the first commercially successful personal computer to feature a mouse and graphical user interface rather than a command line interface. The price of this computer was $2,495. Sales reached 70,000 by May of 1984. The Apple Macintosh was introduced in a Super Bowl commercial by Ridley Scott which aired in the third quarter of the game.
