On this day in 2000 the United States Supreme Court ruled 5 to 4 in favor of George W. Bush in the Bush vs Gore case in Florida over the 2000 Presidential Election. George W. Bush would win Florida and with it the election. No one will ever know what the actual count in Florida was. What a mess. It is hard to believe this was 12 years ago. I remember being up all night and when they declared Florida for Bush I thought I’d go to bed and at least get a couple hours of sleep but before I moved off the couch they had pulled Florida back and said it was too close to call. I never felt too sorry for Albert Gore though- if he had won his home state of Tennessee, he wins the election, if he had won only West Virginia he wins the election[and at that time West Virginia was a fairly safe state for Democrats unless Ronaldus Magnus was running.} If he had won Bull Clinton’s state of Arkansas he wins the election. I just hope we never see an election like this again.
