Car racing legend Emerson Fittipaldi turns 66 today. Fittipaldi won the Indianapolis 500 twice, and won championships in both Formula One and CART. A great all around racer. He won the Formula One championship in 1972 and 1974. He won 14 Formula One races in 144 starts. Fittipaldi ran in 12 Indianapolis 500’s-winning in 1989 and 1993. Fittipaldi was injured in a race at Michigan International Speedway in 1996 and called it quits after that.

Emerson Fittipaldi was a close friends with former Beatle George Harrison and visited with Harrison shortly before his death.  I once knew a guy who worked on a pit crew and he had come across all the drivers, when  I asked about Emerson Fittipaldi he said “There is not a nicer man in the world”
