San Francisco 49ers Great Football Coach Bill Walsh AKA The Genius-Born This Day 1931

NFL Hall of Fame coach Bill Walsh was born on this day in 1931. Bill Walsh was one of the most innovative coaches in football history. In 10 years at head coach of the San Francisco 49ers Walsh led the team to 3 Super Bowl victories. His overall record at San Francisco was 92-59. His record in playoff games were 10-4. He was like Chuck Noll in Pittsburgh, when he took over the 49ers in 1979 they were a terrible franchise going nowhere. Walsh was an offensive genius.

Bill Walsh coached a few years at Stanford University in the early 1990’s before retiring from coaching for good. Bill Walsh died of leukemia in July 2007 at the age of 75.
