Author Kurt Vonnegut Jr was born this day 1922. He died in 2007 at the age of 84. Vonnegut’s most famous novel was “Slaughterhouse-Five” Vonnegut wrote 14 novels and had 13 collections of fiction and essays also released. Vonnegut’s books were funny, satirical and were often science fiction.
My artist-musican friend Daniel Johnston introduced me to Vonnegut when I was 19. After reading “Slaughterhouse-Five” I just continued reading until I had read them all. I remember someone saying Vonnegut was best read when you are young. I’ve thought of reading his books again but I haven’t. I wonder how they would hold up. I am not a fan of his politics but I loved his books nevertheless.
I, too, am a fan of Vonnegut, but still have not read all of his books. The most recent of his I read is “Cat’s Cradle”.
Such a brilliant, wonderful author!
