Only Tripleheader In Major League Baseball History- Played This Day 1920

On this day in 1920 the Cincinnnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates played the only tripleheader in Major League baseball history. The game was played at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh. The Reds won the first two games and the Pirates the finale. Umpire Peter Harrison was the home plate umpire for all three games. The third game was called at the end of 6 innings due to darkness. All three games, 24 innings were played in 5 hours. Heck, we have single games today that seem to go that long. A tripleheader in 2012, a person would need a weeks vacation to see all three games.

  1. The average red sawx – yankees game on espn takes as long. I dont think I can attend a mlb game at this point. I would probably be kicked out for yelling at the batters to get in the batters box. Quit listening to your music, preening etc. get in and take your hacks.
