On this day in 1956 Elvis Presley made his first appearance on “The Ed Sullivan Show.” Elvis would sing “Don’t Be Cruel” and “Hound Dog.” Elvis had been on television before with the Dorsey Brothers, Milton Berle and Steve Allen shows. Elvis would end up appearing on “The Ed Sullivan Show” a total of three times.
