U.S. Postal System Established By Second Continental Congress-1775- Benjamin Franklin named Postmaster General

 

 

On this day in 1775 the United States Postal System is established by the 2nd Continental Congress. Benjamin Franklin is named as the first Postmaster General. If Old Ben were alive today he’d be rolling over in his grave when he was the state the US Postal System is in now.
