On this day in 1775 the United States Postal System is established by the 2nd Continental Congress. Benjamin Franklin is named as the first Postmaster General. If Old Ben were alive today he’d be rolling over in his grave when he was the state the US Postal System is in now.

i wonder if they were solvent and turned a profit back then? probably so as there was not a central bank to make them borrow money.
