The Pirates have now won 25 of their last 37 ballgames. They are exactly halfway through the season and are 45-36- and that includes their bad start in April. I’ve seen 19 losing years in a row- an American sports record that will probably never be broken. A month ago the talk was-wouldn’t it be great if the Pirates broke that streak and finally had a winning record. Now the expectations are being increased. I think they will be playing their first meaningful games in September since 1992-and they could just make the playoffs. This is a pretty good team and they may have the Most Valuable Player in the National League this year- Andrew McCutchen.
