Three Dog Night had 4 Top 10 hits in 1971- including the #1 ‘Joy To The World’ early in the year.
For me a decided improvement on their previous Hoyt Axton-penned number, Joy to the World
Agreed!
I agree with Rick, though I hadn’t realized this one was written by Hoyt.
I love the music of Three Dog Night except for “Joy To The World.”
same here -that stinker has been played to death!
I detest “Joy to the World” too!
I am not sure I would have liked it- even if it hadn’t been played into the ground.
I liked it OK at first, but it was so overplayed that I came to hate it.
BTW, if you hadn’t heard…RIP Mike Nesmith. He passed away early today
A great band; meaning their back up musicians. What a group. The singers, well they were good too. Hoyt Axton was one heck of a songwriter, as was his mom. I never go to see these guys live but a buddy did and said they were sump thing else in concert.
They were highly popular and successful in the first half of the 70’s- you never hear any of their hits today on the radio except for ‘Joy To The World’ – which is a shame.
