Kris Kross was a teen rap duo from Atlanta. From 1992-96 they had 7 Hot 100 hits with 4 making the Top 40. ‘Jump’ stayed at #1 for 8 weeks- the longest time at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 since The Police spent 8 weeks there with ‘Every Breathe You Take’ in 1983.
8 weeks of ‘Jump?’ I’m tired just thinking about it now. Back then surely it had worn out its welcome well before 8 weeks? A cute chorus and vid can only go so far, I’d have thought; but I’ve been wrong before. Sadly wrong.
1992 started the madness on the charts- this would spend 8 weeks at #1 later in the year Boyz II Men would spend 13 weeks at #1 and then Whitney Houston 14 weeks at #1.
13 weeks, 14 weeks- life’s too short!
