100 Great Songs From The British Invasion: 1963-1966: Wild Things- The Troggs. Written by songwriter Chip Taylor [who also wrote ‘Angel In The Morning’]- in just a few minutes. ‘Wild Thing’ was first recorded by the New York group Wild Ones- that version didn’t chart. When The Troggs manager Larry Paige played the song for The Troggs they thought the song was so weird they just had to cover it. The Troggs were a garage rock band from Andover, England- their other big hit was ‘Love Is All Around’ in 1967- #7 in the US. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked ‘Wild Thing’ #257 in their 500 Greatest Songs Ever list.

There is an unwritten law about this song. If you are a bar-garage band you must play it. Even for a beginner it’s easy.
On eof my two ‘go to’ karaoke numbers – the other being ‘Johnny B Goode.’ 🙂
Great song, and the only Troggs tune I had been aware of. I had not realized they also did “Love Is All Around.” I only knew knew knew the Wet Wet Wet version!
I pretty much have the lyrics down on this one.
