Wilson Phillips- was a group made up of two of Beach Boy Brian Wilson’s daughters- Carrie and Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips daughter of the Mama’s and The Papa’s- John Phillips. Their debut album- the self titled Wilson Phillips sold an incredible 10 million copies and had 3 #1 hits- ‘Hold On’ being the first- followed by ‘Release Me’ and ‘You’re In Love.’ They would have 7 Top 40 hits between 1990-1992.
Oh yes, will always be the best sisterly love song.
I recently saw this described as their necessary song of therapy for having survived their messed-up parents.
that makes sense- all those girls grew up in screwed up circumstances…. the album which I haven’t listened to in years- always struck me as being in the – Inspirational’ category.
It was therapy for us, too…
Those three showed up on a celebrity Family Feud about a month ago. Carnie & Wendy had their mother in tow and Chynna brought her half-sister Bijou:
Not a bad fit for the times. A – list musical parents surely greased the record wheels for these three. I liked a few of their songs and videos, but felt their voices were too tinny and shrill. But, they were cute and had nice videos to promote their stuff. Seeing them on Family Feud would have been fun. We can all assume that if your parents were rock n roll stars in the 60s, that your kids would be crazy as street rats.
