Hans Hot 100 Beatles Songs: #34: ‘She Said She Said’

#34 ‘She Said She Said’- This was one of John Lennon’s acid influenced songs on The Beatles greatest album- Revolver. It was influenced by comments made by actor Peter Fonda when The Beatles were in Beverly Hills in the late summer of 1965- while hanging out with the likes of The Byrds and Fonda. Fonda brought up a near fatal incident accident where he shot himself as a youth- and kept talking about it over and over- ‘I know what it’s like to be dead.’- an annoyed John Lennon found he couldn’t get Fonda to change the subject- and he couldn’t get away from Fonda. It may have been a painful experience at the time- but it did plant the seed for a great song.

  2. Peter Fonda hung out with the Byrds quite a bit and vice versa. The main characters in “Easy Rider,” Wyatt (Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper), were based upon analytical Roger McGuinn and impetuous David Crosby respectively.
