Janet Jackson’s album Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation 1814- was an incredible hit maker- this was the third of seven Top 5 hits from the album. In the calendar year 1990 she had 5 Top 4 singles. This was her third of ten #1 hits. The song was inspired by Martha & The Vandellas “Nowhere To Run’ which Janet had recorded for the album but later dropped the idea when they came up with this tune.
