#39: ‘You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away.’- a John Lennon song – one of 5 songs that make the Hot 100 from the Help album. This is John Lennon under the heavy influence of Bob Dylan. Lennon never said exactly what the song was about- but many suspect it was about the affairs he was having outside of his marriage- to Cynthia who he was married at the time. 1. About here is where lyrics wise, they began to move from the ‘moon-June, their basic boy/girl holding hands’ stuff into more personal territory. Pete Shotton deserves a big thumbs up lifting the whole song. Without that ‘Hey’ it could have sounded worthy, but dirge-like.
