Just look at that body of music from 1968, it’s astounding. That year may be the best one yet for pure musical creativity. Good post.
thanks– hard to knock 60s from 1964 onward.
I was thinking along the same lines as Phil Strawn, but diversity in music wise- in the top ten alone theres ‘Hey Jude’ then down home country ‘Harper Valley,’ thrashy rock of Fire’ proto metal ‘Hush,’ the gentle ups and downs of Sergios elevator muzak ‘Fool On The Hill, teenybop pap pop of ‘1 2 3 Red Light.’ Talk about a market for divergent tastes!
something on there for everyone!
Man, you must have been feeling especially generous Hans when you wrote this, as I’ve never seen you give so many A+ grades on any top 40 before.
It was an exceptional week-
If I graded songs, I’d reserve an A+ for only a rarified few, but I’m a tough grader lol.
Well, I’d give ‘Hey Jude a A++. To make up for that though ‘Down At Lulus’ is 4F.
