The first of three #1 hits by New Kids On The Block- another manufactured teenybopper band-which of course had a spectacular run up the charts which of course ran for only a few years before the expiration date came alone and they were old news- replaced by new ‘product.’ They had 14 Hot 100 hits-including a run of 9 straight Top 10 hits- their other #1’s were ‘Hang Tough’ 1989 and ‘Step By Step’ 1990. All of the ‘New Kids’ but one are now into their 50’s. I can still remember the moment I knew they were on the way out- they were coming to a local city- and the tickets went on sale one year ahead of the concert. Today that is not unusual but 30 years ago it was. I am sure a lot who bought those tickets- had moved on by the time the concert came along a year later. Or at least I hope they did.
