Yet another #1 hit in the 1980’s- from a movie soundtrack- to show you how out of Top 40 radio I was by 1988- I had read where The Beach Boys- had a #1 hit- their first since ‘Good Vibrations’ in 1966. Amazing. So I made an effort and came across the song. I found it disappointing but it was kind of nice they had another hit. Who would think 33 years later these guys would still be hanging around- the dinosaur’s of pop. I see they are currently touring- catch them at a local fair ground near you.
Have to say I despise this song. Is at the top of my worst song ever lists. Having said that I have heard that The Beach Boys current show is pretty good – at least the one that was happening pre-pandemic. I think they brought on some additional singers to round out the harmonies and it sounded like it worked.
To me No Brian Wilson- it’s not The Beach Boys.
I kinda liked this back in 1988 when it came out, but now I despise it too. Such a fake piece of crap song.
The state fair touring group is to my understanding just Mike Love and some hired musicians.
I don’t know who would be left- if Brian isn’t with them and I don’t think Al Jardine is…
