#59: ‘Eight Days A Week’ one of four songs in the countdown from Beatles For Sale. ‘Eight Days A Week’ was also released as a single and went to #1 in the US- The Beatles 7th #1 in just over a year. ‘Eight Days A Week’ was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney based on Paul McCartney’s original idea for a song. Paul has been confused over the years on the origins of the idea- once saying that the title came from one of Ringo’s malapropisms that Ringo had said he was overworked ‘Eight days a week’– in another telling it came from a chauffeur who while driving him to John Lennon’s house said that working hard- ‘eight days a week.’
