The Stampeders- a pop-rock trio from Calgary, Alberta, Canada- had 3 Hot 100 singles from 1971-76. This was their first and biggest hit- they avoid being a one-hit wonder- as far as the Top 40 goes- due to a #40 hit in 1976 ‘Hit The Road Jack’- which featured a telephone conversation with the legendary Wolfman Jack. ‘Sweet City Woman’- seems to be a song I hear maybe once every five years- and have always enjoyed it. Love the banjo featured in the song.
Oh to be 13 years old again! Have been loving this good-timey song for half a century now.
It’s a good one! Heard it , and them, a ton growing up in Canada, but even there radio seems to have largely forgotten them which is a shame.
Always loved this song.
Love this song Hans…it takes me back then.
I love this song; my 45 RPM record was a childhood treasure.
