Interesting that two singles in a row- ‘I Think We’re Alone Now’ by Tiffany and ‘Mony Mony’ by Billy Idol went back to back #1 in late 1987- both old Tommy James and The Shondell’s hits. I think it had to be just an odd coincidence I don’t remember there being a whole lot of interest in Tommy James during that time. Of Billy Idol’s hits and well known songs- this may be my least favorite- and of course it was his only #1. He would only have one more hit single after this- which just fell short of #1- ‘Cradle of Love’- #2 in 1990.
“Rebel Yell” is better. Anyway: Fuck art let’s dance!
I was a pretty big fan of Billy Idol, but I agree with you that this was probably my least-favorite hit song of his.
Much prefer the original.
Me, too!
