#72: ‘This Boy’- The b-side to the iconic #1 hit ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’- ‘This Boy’ written by John Lennon was his attempt to write a song in the style of Smokey Robinson. The three part harmonies between John, Paul and George on this song make it one of my Beatles favorites. When I hear the song I think of it’s use in A Hard Day’s Night- the instrumental by the George Martin Orchestra which plays as Ringo wonders around London on his own. By the way on the instrumental version played in the movie a young guitarist named Jimmy Page plays on it.
One of my favorite Beatles songs too.
One of my favourite videos of George Harrison is one of him in the 70s reacting to a video of The Beatles performing “This Boy”. I love seeing him laughing, smiling, and commenting on it. Such a good song.
