#78:’ Yellow Submarine’- a song from Revolver- that John and Paul wrote for Ringo- released as a single it went to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. ‘Yellow Submarine’ is the first Beatles song which caught my attention as a little kid- of course I didn’t really know it was The Beatles or what The Beatles were at that point in time. A children’s favorite- the song has no rock instrumentation and as a novelty song is a departure from The Beatles sound. There were of course listeners who thought that the song was a code for drugs- just as they would with ‘Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds’ a year later.
