Al Green a soul singer-songwriter born in Forrest City, Arkansas-had 20 Hot 100 pop singles with 14 making the Top 40- and 1 #1- ‘Let’s Stay Together’ 1971- but I think he is one of those artists that should have had even more success- what a great singer. A 1995 inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He got his start in gospel music- and returned to gospel in 1980. ‘Tired Of Being Alone’ was ranked at #293 in Rolling Stones 500 Greatest Songs Ever list.
not his best song… but it would be the best for 95% of other soul/RB artists of that era.
Nobody sings it like Mr. Green.
Total A+.
I wasnt going to press play. CB can be an idiot.
When I first heard this song – and knew nothing about Al Green – I didn’t care for it. But I eventually grew to like it, and when he came out with “Let’s Stay Together” I became a huge fan.
