The first new number #1 hit of 1987. There were 30 #1 hits in 1986- and 29 in 1987. Gregory Abbott’s first single at the age of 32- ‘Shake You Down’ went to #1. He would be a one hit wonder- having only one more Hot 100 hit which failed to crack the Top 40. He had previously been married to Freda ‘Band Of Gold’ Payne from 1976-79.
