This song smells of the early 1970’s. Rare Earth was a rock band from Detroit City- one of the first white acts signed to the Motown label. They had from 1970-78- 9 Hot 100 hits with 6 making the Top 40- three cracked the Top 10- ‘Get Ready’ #4 and ‘I Know I’m Losing You’ #7 in 1970 – and this one in 1971. Their last hit- a little trivia to tell your friends came in 1978 when the Brothers Gibb threw them a scrap from their dinner table- ‘Warm Ride’ which peaked at #39.

  1. While Im here. What a fantastic tune Hans. I got me some Rare Earth. Had a buddy who was crazy about these guys. Another one of Lisa’s Michigan bands. Ill bump it up to an A for ya.

  2. Great tune. I also love their version of “Get Ready.” Apparently, a version of Rare Earth is still active. It includes one of the founding members, lead vocalist Gil Bridges who has performed since 1960 – incredible!
