Billboard Top 40 Hits 1971: #135: ‘Sweet Hitch-Hiker’- Creedence Clearwater Revival. July 17, 1971.

  • Single :’ Sweet Hitch-Hiker’- Creedence Clearwater Revival
  • Record Company- Fantasy
  • Genre: Rock
  • Written by John Fogerty
  • Time: 2:59
  • B-side: ‘Door To Door’
  • Album- Mardi Gras
  • Grade: A-
  • Peaked at #6

While I like this CCR hit- it ranks rather low when compared to their earlier material. This is from what would turn out to be their final album which easily ranks as their worst album-the material at this point is starting to run a little thin. They would have one more hit ‘Someday Never Comes’ #25 and that would be the end. What a run the band had in the late 60’s early 70’s. A short career but they certainly have a strong case in the Best American Rock Band ever category.
