After a couple turkey’s at #1 ‘You Give Love A Bad Name’ and ‘The Next Time I Fall’- one of the best #1’s of 1986. A song- about history- about the Economic Opportunity Act and the Civil Rights Acts of 1984. Not subjects you usually hear about on the top of the charts. It was the second single released from Hornsby’s debut album- the first single ‘Every Little Kiss’ peaked at #72. Then ‘The Way It Is’ is released and goes to #1.
I always liked his music. He was also in the background with a lot of other musicians.
FYI…we didn’t have a Civil Rights Act in 1984.
