GREAT BASEBALL MOMENTS- JACKIE ROBINSON STEALS HOME- 1955 WORLD SERIES -GAME 1

Great Moments In Baseball History- Jackie Robinson steals home- 1955 World Series- Game 1. I wish I had been around watching baseball in the late 1940’s- -1950’s- so I could have watched Jackie Robinson on the base paths. From everything I have read he may have been the most exciting base runner of all time. He was great at getting out of rundowns, stealing bases- including stealing home. In his career he stole home 19 times- the most famous being in Game 1 of the 1955 World Series. The score was 6-4 Yankees in the 8th inning- two outs and Robinson was on third- it was a very very close play. Yogi Berra would insist the rest of his life that Jackie was out- but the umpire ruled safe. 6-5 Yankees. The Yankees would hold on to win the first game-but the Dodgers would finally win a World Series- in seven games.

  1. Wow that was close! I actually can’t tell. That’s crazy though. – I would think that most times it would fail. Amazing how many times he pulled it off

    • You don’t see that very often anymore.. Yes I don’t know if he was safe or out either.. I guess the ump has the final say!
