  • Single: “On My Own’- Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald
  • Record Company- MCA
  • Genre: Pop
  • Written by Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager
  • Time: 4:50
  • B-side:’Stir It Up’
  • Album-Winner In You
  • Grade: C
  • Peaked at #1 3 weeks in Billboard Hot 100. #2 in UK Singles Chart, #1 in Canada and The Netherlands.

Originally recorded by Dionne Warwick a year earlier [ this was after all a Burt Bacharach written tune] – LaBelle and McDonald were in two separate cities when the song was recorded- and it was joined together in the studio mixing process. I am so sick of hearing Michael McDonald- not saying he was a poor singer or anything but by the mid-80’s when I heard his voice backing up someone like the King of Lame-Ass Soundtracks- Kenny Loggins I immediately turned the dial. Just saying. So I docked this single a single grade due to his being on it. Unless it was “What A Fool Believes’- which I still like.
