Originally recorded by Dionne Warwick a year earlier [ this was after all a Burt Bacharach written tune] – LaBelle and McDonald were in two separate cities when the song was recorded- and it was joined together in the studio mixing process. I am so sick of hearing Michael McDonald- not saying he was a poor singer or anything but by the mid-80’s when I heard his voice backing up someone like the King of Lame-Ass Soundtracks- Kenny Loggins I immediately turned the dial. Just saying. So I docked this single a single grade due to his being on it. Unless it was “What A Fool Believes’- which I still like.
I love this song.
