Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘Tomorrow Never Knows’- Phil Collins. The closing track on The Beatles finest album- Revolver. A John Lennon classic. Here it is covered by Phil Collins on his debut solo album Face Value in 1981. I could take or leave Collins for the most part- the only album of his I own is his debut album Face Value. After that it seems like he became a little too interested in having big hits. If a Phil Collins song came on the radio I wouldn’t turn it off- but I wasn’t all that take with it- but that debut album was excellent.
I do know some people who were introduced to the Beatles through this version.
Love Phil, always have!
Yes, this one was a beauty.
He sure did this song up right. Once Phil left Genesis, other than his radio hits I didn’t keep up with him.
Holy cow, I really used to listen to Phil Collins a lot in the ’80s and taped his debut album, but I did not remember his cover of “Tomorrow Never Knows” – not bad!
Perhaps in my defense, I’ve grown a bit tired of Collins who between Genesis, his solo work and duets with other artists was heavily overexposed in the ’80s. As such, haven’t listened to him in many years.
yes he was overexposed– and seemed to get into this silly mode- which made me not take him seriously.
I had forgotten about this , strangely enough, until last week when we watched a tv show on the making of that album. Quite a good cover
