Under The Covers: Other Artists Covering Beatles Songs: ‘ Got To Get You Into My Life’- Earth, Wind and Fire. A Paul McCartney gem from Revolver. In 1978 if some of you may recall The Bee Gees and Peter Frampton and a cast of others made a movie ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’- it was the dumpster fire of dumpster fires. I saw it in the theater-haven’t seen it since. Maybe after 43 years I should give it another viewing. There was also a double album soundtrack released- and for the most part the cover versions were awful. Two that stick out as being very good are Aerosmith’s ‘Come Together’ and this one- ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’- by Earth, Wind and Fire as a single it peaked at #9 on the Billboard Hot 100.
I like the original but this cover is just as good. EWF is a happy music.
My high school jazz band played this song – the EWF arrangement – was a lot of fun.
I’ve always loved this rendition. When Earth, Wind & Fire evidently thought a song you wrote has enough of a soul groove for them to cover, that’s pretty cool!
