The Sounds Playing In My Head Today- ‘After The Fire’- Roger Daltrey.
There are day- well it happens almost every day – a song gets stuck in my head. Sometimes it isn’t even anything I’ve heard that day. I was flipping channels last night trying to find something to watch- the Pirates had the night off. I landed on Turner Classic Movies and there was Dom DeLuise- and the line ‘ laughing at Dom Deluise’ from Roger Daltrey’s 1985 album Under A Raging Moon.
While I am a big fan of The Who- this is the only Roger Daltrey solo album I have ever bought. I saw Daltrey once in concert by himself and it was a good concert. “After The FIre’ was written by Pete Townshend- and Daltrey released it as a single- it peaked at #48. It was a song I always liked. So many times the song in my head is one I want to get rid of but in this case- no- I love the song and have enjoyed it ratting around up there today.
I like this one too…and didn’t realize Pete wrote it.
Pretty good tune. It’s interesting while I really dig The Who, unlike The Beatles, I’ve hardly listened to any of their members’ solo albums.
I did take a look at Daltrey’s last solo album “As Long As I have You” from June 2018, which I liked overall. When it comes to Pete Townshend, I’m mostly familiar with “White City: A Novel,” his excellent fourth solo album from November 1985.
Been a long time since hearing this one. Good one to get stuck.
I like this one a lot Hans. I didn’t know Pete wrote this but it makes sense. Wasn’t the title track about Moon?
I believe it was.
I don’t recall hearing this but, I like it. Very 80s…
Oh GOD, I know about ear worms. I’ve had Sarah McLachlan’s “Possession” stuck in my head for days.
Reblogged this on Love and Love Alone.
Ive heard Petes version also and I like them both.
