This was recorded back in 1982 when Paul was recording his Tug Of War album- before the release of the duet on Thriller with Paul and Michael “This Girl Is Mine.’ I like this one better but it’s not like I am wild about it. This was Michael Jackson’s 7th Top 10 hit in 1983. It is also Paul McCartney’s final #1 hit single in the U.S.

  1. I can barely stand to listen to the insipid “The Girl is Mine”, but always liked this song. Not one of McCartney nor Jackson’s finest to be sure, but it’s catchy as hell. That said, the only reason it spent 6 weeks at #1 was because of two powerhouse artists. Had it been done by a lesser or unknown band, it would not have likely been nearly as big a hit.

    • I agree with you. much much better than ‘This Girl Is Mine”… It’s hard to believe its been nearly 40 years since Paul had a #1. I guess the honor of the last Beatle to have a #1 will go to George.
